Hello Insiders news flash and apologies in advance if this is a little bit later than usual We had the Thanksgiving holiday That caused a little bit of a kink in our schedule first item some updates to YouTube studio which by the way is no longer YouTube studio beta I don’t know if you’ve noticed that but we removed that beta label Because you know, we mean business and classic is going away and everybody’s going to the new studio Some improvements: By the time you see this or perhaps a few days after you will have one-click access from the video list to analytics and Comments. This has been a highly requested feature basically, we’re trying to do things to take less less clicks to complete common tasks and One of the things was like hey on the video list. I want to be able to go boom right into analytics for that video Without having to first click on the video and then go to the left hand side and find the analytics option So that is hopefully already there or coming very soon I’ve been testing it on the Creator Insider channel, it works great Next. Oh There’s also faster access to playlists from the left-hand navigation and we’ve added the ability to delete multiple videos in bulk and one of the most requested features we’ve expanded the description box for any video if your description has lots and lots of text basically the The box will grow so you don’t have to kind of scroll within this little Narrow box like we used to make you do. We’ve also made some improvements to The page load speed so hopefully you’re noticing that pages are a little snappier especially if you are on a good Wi-Fi on a modern laptop with chrome it should be pretty snappy and Coming Soon So this is one of the thing that ah… Always gives a product manager a little bit of heartburn, but I’m gonna promise you some features that will be coming. Let’s say, in the next few weeks or January at the latest One-click access from the Studio dashboard to your real-time analytics Another thing that’s coming very soon is an improved ability to add Mid-roll ads. We got feedback that the way we add mid-roll ads in the studio video editor is a little complicated a little hard to find so you’re going to get a Streamlined improved version of that. That one also… Hopefully by the end of Jan maybe sooner. Ohh! We had a studio bug where some playlist saves weren’t saving that has been fixed Thank you for your patience And lastly a lot of creators have been asking Whoa it when you keep saying classic is going away like I rely on the classic and screen editor because I really prefer that to the New studio and screen editor or I rely on the audio library or I rely on These things that are deep linked from studio into classic So, let me just be super clear when we say The escape hatch is going away and classic is going away what we mean. Is that little link on The bottom left-hand corner that gives you general access to classic studio. That’s what’s going away Those deep links from let’s say the video details page to the classic end screen editor the classic info card editor the classic audio library Those are not going away those will remain until they’re replaced With a native studio version of those things that will be better So just you know be advised that General access to classic is going away but not some of those deep linked classic features that are not yet supported in The new studio. Hope that helps and if you’re still using classic Really? I strongly encourage you to just don’t go there anymore next item. We have a letter from Susan link below Susan our CEO does a periodic letter to all creators some highlights We remove the financial incentive to claim short unintentional music In videos, we required the claimers to add timestamps She also in her letter Thank You Susan called out a bunch of YouTube studio improvements There’s also been improvements to membership super chat stories, new program around working to help edgy content, have more monetization, Update to the gaming policy that differentiates violence and gaming to violence in in the real world or actual violence, And then also sections around communication and responsibilities. So check out Susan’s letter next I’ve seen a lot of discussion on Twitter about the Terms of Service update particularly around the notion of Commercially viable a lot of people are like oh You know is youtube gonna close out channels and are not making money. It actually has nothing to do with any termination of accounts that are not making money it’s about removing outdated and low usage features on YouTube in general and so no change to Creators like as you guys know like from time to time if a feature Isn’t getting used or isn’t having the impact That we want and we look at the data and we talk to creators and we kind of consider all these factors Then we will remove and deprecated features from time to time that allows us to add new features So we don’t have you know, this bloated product. So that’s what that whole term service thing was that it’s not about You know shutting down channel or anything that are not commercially viable Next a little more detail about that Gaming policy Community Guidelines update so violence in video games Will now be treated the same as violence in movies or TV programs We’re more likely to Remove or restrict videos that have violence that are happening in reality generally, we will allow dramatized violence if The content or the metadata, lets us know that it’s fictional or if it’s very apparent from the content itself for example video games That this has no impact on the ad friendly guidelines those remain the same Next hold potentially inappropriate content for review. That’s a feature that is Still rolling out where we’re defaulting channels into that setting you can you can change it back if you want But what we found so far, is that from the early… Rollout, we had a major reduction almost 75 percent reduction in Comments are being reported by viewers Many craters have told us that has actually been beneficial to their well-being and saves them time Link below for more information about that Memberships there’s an experiment with a loyalty message in chat to help members who’ve been a Member of a channel for many months or a long period of time stand out and be celebrated as loyal supporters of that channel next with stories The watch later stickers now rolled out a hundred percent It basically allows viewers to add a video to the watch later playlist Speaking of stories there’s the new stories thumbnail which is larger and it will appear in home Sub speed watch page as a reminder. These are thumbnails are auto selected based on the highest quality frame So they’re not custom thumbnails and what we found when it comes to stories is that if a channel has an active story its clock No, that’s what my laptop just said. What we found is that if a channel has an active story the weekly news subscription subscriber count grows 8.5% faster Than similar channels that do not have active stories So active stories help your channel grow faster There you go, the more you know Next there’s experiment with short vertical videos being shown next two stories on mobile let us know if you have any feedback about that and I think that covers All of the updates for this week. Hope that was helpful in the meantime. Keep it real. Alright movie time! Movie time. Last week’s movie was Kill Bill first person who guessed it was bird of prey 5 Who knew so many bird of prey just one bird of prey bird singular bird of prey this week Here is the quote after that my guess is you will never hear from him again The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world. He did not exist and Like that, he’s gone Such a good movie if you know what movie that’s from Put it in the comments below and we will give you a shout-out in next week’s news flash. Keep it real.
